1. Acceptance & Eligibility
By creating an account or using Plane Chatter, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. What Plane Chatter Is
Plane Chatter provides a temporary, anonymous group chat for passengers on the same flight. Each flight has one room. A room opens 1 hour before the flight’s scheduled departure and closes 1 hour after its scheduled arrival, after which it is read-only. Messages are deleted 24 hours after the room closes.
Room times are based on scheduled times, not live ones. If your flight is early, late, or cancelled, the room may open or close at a different moment than you expect.
3. Your Account & Boarding-Pass Verification
- You must give accurate information and keep your sign-in details secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- You join a room by scanning your own boarding pass for that flight. Do not use someone else’s pass, a fake or altered pass, or any method meant to get around verification.
- One person per account. Do not share or sell your account.
4. Community Rules
Everyone in a flight room is a real person sitting nearby. Do not use Plane Chatter to:
- Threaten or joke about harming an aircraft, passengers, or crew. This includes bombs, weapons, hijackings, and similar jokes. See Section 5.
- Harass, bully, stalk, or intimidate anyone, or make unwanted advances.
- Post hateful content, or content that attacks people for who they are.
- Share sexual content, or anything involving minors in a sexual way.
- Try to identify other passengers, share where someone is sitting, or reveal personal information about anyone.
- Spam, advertise, scam, or ask people for money.
- Pretend to be airline staff, crew, or law enforcement.
- Break the law, or encourage others to.
- Scrape the app, probe or attack our systems, or try to get around bans, blocks, or other safety tools.
5. Safety, Threats & Law Enforcement
Threats against an aircraft, its passengers, or its crew are never allowed, even as a joke. We scan messages for threatening language and report apparent threats to the airline and law enforcement, including details that identify you and your seat. This can happen without warning.
We keep your account details, your seat, and the technical details of your connection so we can act quickly if something serious happens. We may also respond to valid legal requests and emergencies by sharing information, as described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Reporting, Blocking & Enforcement
You can report a message or block another passenger from within a room. We review reports and may remove content, warn you, suspend your account for a period, or ban it permanently. A ban may also apply to the email address used, so that it cannot be used to create a new account.
We do not have to give notice before acting, especially when safety is involved. If you think we made a mistake, email support@planechatter.app.
7. Your Messages
- You are responsible for what you send. You keep ownership of it.
- You give us a limited license to store, process, and show your messages to the other passengers in the room, so the app can work.
- Other people in the room can see your messages. We cannot stop anyone from copying or screenshotting them before they are deleted, so do not share anything you would not want others to keep.
- We do not review messages before they are sent and are not responsible for what other users say.
8. Using the App on a Flight
- Follow crew instructions and airline rules about electronic devices at all times. They come before anything in the app.
- Plane Chatter is not an emergency service. Do not use it to report a medical or safety emergency. Alert the crew.
- Do not rely on the app for safety or flight information. Messages from other passengers may be wrong.
9. Flight Information & Third Parties
Scheduled flight times come from a third-party flight-data provider and may be incomplete or wrong. Plane Chatter is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any airline or airport. Airline names and codes are used only to identify flights, and belong to their owners.
10. Subscriptions & Payments
Plane Chatter is currently free. If we add paid features, additional terms will apply at the time of purchase, including pricing, billing, and renewal. Payments would be processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play and are subject to their terms and refund policies. We will update this section when paid features are introduced.
11. Intellectual Property
Plane Chatter’s name, logo, design, and software belong to us and are protected by law. These Terms give you a personal, limited, non-transferable right to use the app, and no rights to our branding or code.
12. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
Plane Chatter is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, reliability, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not promise that the app will always work, or work in the air, where connectivity may be limited or unavailable.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including anything said or done by other users. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
13. Termination & Account Deletion
You may stop using Plane Chatter at any time, and you can delete your account in the app under Account. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these Terms or puts others at risk. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as those on safety records, disclaimers, and liability, continue after your account ends.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. We will change the “Last Updated” date above, and for significant changes we will ask you to accept the new version. Continuing to use Plane Chatter after changes take effect means you accept them.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the state in which the developer resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless consumer protection laws in your location require otherwise.
